  1. Regarding your broken burr grinder hopper, the round little piece in the bottom of my hopper broke last night. It looks intact. Could I glue it back on with model glue?

Hi Carol… I would certainly think you could! I’m a few days late in replying (sorry! was traveling!)…. have you tried it yet?

  2. Sorry, I think I replied to the wrong post. But thank you for your response. Yes! I glued it with Crazy glue, and it is fine. In the meantime, I had followed a link of yours to Solis Export. Someone had mentioned them in one of your posts but said they would not ship to the US. I emailed them, and they will ship to the US. However, the price is 11.25 CHF for the bean hopper and 45.00 CHF for shipping. That is approximately $56.25, so I won’t be ordering the part from them. My Barista Burr grinder is a number of years old, and I use it all the time. The plastic bean hopper part is the only thing that has broken. I haven’t checked on a replacement grinder, so I don’t know how much it would be now. I think the $45 for shipping just the bean hopper wouldn’t be worth it. Reading about all your repairs is very impressive.

No worries! I knew what you were referring to 🙂

I followed that link to the international Solis site but never bothered to check with them about shipping to the US. It’s good to know! The folks at Baratza have been super helpful. If you’re thinking about a replacement grinder… well, let me put it this way, after all the help they’ve given me I can’t imagine buying a grinder from anyone else. That kind of support tells you something about a company!

In any case, the modification to the hopper that Baratza sells probably looks much more complicated than it actually turned out to be. It takes a lot of words to explain, but isn’t very difficult to do. They have fast, inexpensive shipping as well. If you decide to buy one from them, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. I’d be more than happy to answer what I can!

  3. Thanks for your message. Yes, from your comments it sounds like Baratza’s service is very good. I would definitely consider them when I have to replace my grinder. The instructions re: their bean hopper are helpful. I just thought I would check out the Solis site. They actually responded quickly, but the overseas shipping is too much.
