They get fired up about their own businesses in fresh ways… and they do a fantastic job of communicating once this happens. This results in their future customers and clients finding out about them! That is a thrill! Secondarily, when we provide consulting services and do other strategic marketing work (such as corporate vision, strategy, onsite training, copywriting, web architecture, social media innovation, etc.), we want to produce work that creates “epiphanies” for the past, present and future customers of our clients. In other words, the work that we do should cause the lights to go on for the people that our clients are reaching out to… so that they suddenly “see” and become raving lunatic evangelists for our clients. Having been in this business for over 10 years now, I can tell you that there is absolutely nothing like watching somebody “get it.” It’s thrilling to be involved in helping to make it happen. So… no matter what you’re celebrating today (I hope you’re celebrating something… after all, it’s a wonderful, brand-new day!), I hope you have an “epiphany” today. First, a little background on the Greek word:

epiphaneia – lit. “upon appearing,” used to mean “manifestation”

We use it in English when we say, “I had an epiphany!” to mean, “the lights came on!”
In the early Eastern Church, they used the term to refer to the “manifestation” of the infant Jesus to the Magi when they visited from the Orient. He “appeared” to the Gentiles in that moment. Church tradition uses the word “epiphany” to refer to a manifestation or appearance of supernatural beings — in particular Jesus Himself.

From the start of this journey, I wanted to create “epiphanies” for people. Moments when the work that we do would cause information and circumstances to come together in just the right combination to cause people to suddenly “see” what they needed to see.
Have an Epiphany
This has dual meanings for us as it relates to what we do:
It is our mission to provide top-notch training and coaching to small businesses, to salespeople, and to anyone who needs to attract new customers and prospects. In that process, we want them to have moments where they suddenly “see” (sometimes for the first time) themselves and their businesses in the correct light. It’s a beautiful thing when this happens — it sparks life, creativity and energy. They get fired up about their own businesses in fresh ways… and they do a fantastic job of communicating once this happens. This results in their future customers and clients finding out about them! That is a thrill!

It looks like we’re not the only ones moving away from the Epiphany Marketing name. From now on, Infor’s Epiphany Marketing Software will be known by a new moniker: Omni-channel Campaign Management.
Why does this matter? For many years, our small business marketing firm, Grow The Dream, operated under the name Epiphany Marketing, LLC.
From 1999 on, we owned (and still do, actually), the EpiphanyMarketing.com domain, and for all those years, it held a special place in my heart (and at the top of the Google search results!).
I love the term “Epiphany,” and have written about it on more than one occasion.
But alas, it ultimately didn’t work well.
Why?
Simple: it’s hard to spell.
If you had asked me back in 1998 (when we founded the company), it would never have crossed my mind that “epiphany” was difficult to spell.
Over the years, however, of helping many a person whose email to me had bounced, I learned that “epiphany marketing,” while memorable, was not easy to spell for many people. (Apparently the exceptions are people who are of Greek descent or who were raised Catholics. Alas, I fit neither of those characterizations, but I nonetheless didn’t imagine that it would be hard to spell.)
Also, I inadvertently created for myself the mother of all email addresses. There are 22 characters after the “@” symbol, and I used 13 before it.
It wasn’t my smartest move.
In any event, the term “epiphany” didn’t carry the depth of meaning for others as it did for my wife, Jill, and me. And a couple of years ago, we began thinking seriously about unifying some of our branding across multiple businesses, and “Grow The Dream” was born.
We serve entrepreneurs. We serve business owners. We serve people on small business teams who have often staked everything on the pursuit of a dream. Since we focus on helping them capture market share, take new territory, and increase revenue, we see ourselves as a critical part of helping these owners & their teams, “Grow The Dream.”
And all it took was an epiphany for us to see it.

I might add, Carol, that sometimes the chiropractor puts us into more pain in the short term in order to achieve long-term benefits. If you’re just hoping to end your pain, this course of action isn’t a happy one. We’ve got to keep our eye on the end result, which as you said is long-term sustainable health.

All the Best,

David

As with chiropractic adjustments, sometimes one – three business adjustment sessions will bring the correction needed for pain-free efficiency… at least for a time. Other situations, either chiropractic or business, might require ongoing treatments/adjustments along with disciplined accountability follow-up meetings and “tweaking” with an expert to achieve longterm sustainable health.
